The Kids Are Alright

It’s a cliche, but so true: it’s not easy being green.

Here at Canoe’s Toronto office, we’ve recently undertaken some modest but meaningful green initiatives. A great start, but we knew we could do better with some expert help. So we went straight to the source: we asked some kids. A quick one-hour session with students and staff from Glenburnie School in Oakville, Ontario proved rather enlightening.

With a little help from their teachers and administration, these elementary school students were able to school us on creating corporate and community partnerships, identifying new revenue opportunities, finding zero-cost initiatives, and growing our brand in the public eye – all under the banner of going green.

How refreshing. And how appropriate. Since these kids are the ones who will inherit this planet, they may as well be the ones to teach us how to take care of it.

Remember The Who – the voice of the “me generation?” They said “I hope I die before I get old.” And then they got old. But they also said “the kids are alright,” and you know what? They are.
