A highway prayer

Thank you God for this wide open highway, for clear radio reception and the Prairie Home Companion. For the Susquehanna River sparkling, for bare branched maples and brown leafed oaks and tamaracks resplendent and the poetry of white pines. For the workers in song, the folk singers and guitar slingers and the anxious hearts of America and the goodness that prevails. For this rest stop south of Syracuse and for the kindness of a mild hangover and a home to drive toward, forever and ever, these blessings, this beauty, your mercy, amen.
