Really looking forward to this gig with my old pal Brent Mason, multi-award winning songwriter and scene-builder from Saint John, NB.
Two veteran songwriters take the stage together to share the ideas, the inspiration, the techniques and the magic behind their ever-growing bodies of work.
Brent Mason won Best Male Artist of 2017 at the Best of Saint John Music Awards. A lifelong builder and shaper of the New Brunswick scene, Brent has hosted more than 1250 nights of the legendary O’Leary’s Open Mic in historic Saint John. The force behind the long-running Bob Dylan Bash, Brent has multiple ECMA and MusicNB awards and nominations to his credit.
David Newland has developed a reputation as a writer of songs based on Canadian landscapes and stories—from coast to coast to coast. Well known locally for his many appearances at Shelter Valley Folk Festival, Imaginate, and Walk the Line, David has earned praise province-wide for his touring show, The Northwest Passage in Story and Song. David is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.
Journeymen, craftsmen, and raconteurs who combine a passion for local creative culture with an interest in the landscapes of the nation at large, old friends Brent and David will delight in this intimate session built for collaboration, story-telling, and pure musical enjoyment!
