Amanda Rheaume: making music, making music happen

Amanda RheaumeAmanda Rheaume could probably use a rest… but it seems she’s just getting going.

Her successful career as a singer-songwriter includes a JUNO nomination and a Canadian Folk Music Award for Indigenous Songwriter of the Year, as well as five albums.

But she’s as dedicated to providing platforms for other artists as she is to her own work.

That includes co-founding Ishkode Records, and helping build the International Indigenous Music Summit from the ground up.

On top of all that, she managed to put together sizzling new single, I’ve Been Gone in collaboration with Monique Clare, courtesy of Folk Music Canada–despite the intervention of a pandemic and an ocean!

In other words, she’s not just making music: she’s making music happen. I caught up with Amanda on air to find out how she does it.
