I didn’t get time to do New Year’s resolutions this past January. And anyway, I was too busy and frazzled to dream up anything I’d want to change about my life without wiping the slate clean.
When the month ended, I had the notion that I should just go back and make a list of what had gone well, and call that list my retroactive resolutions. That way success is guaranteed.
I’ve just spent 2 days in bed with a fever and I feel as if my slate has indeed been wiped clean. So here goes:
-Enter the New Year with Molly in this beloved old house
-Celebrate a year of Corktown Ukulele Jam in style
-Pull off a bunch of major media interviews and mentions
-Host “The Way We Feel” Gordon Lightfoot tribute, year 8
-Get a little bit of ink as a social media guy
-hang out with a few of my heroes
-start pulling in a few bucks from side projects
-make smart decisions about buying and selling instruments
-keep working on The Canoe Dossier with pride and verve
-hire a reporter to blog for Black History Month @ Canoe.ca
-hire a cheeky webgirl to blog for the Olympics @ Canoe.ca
-continue to grow Roots Music Canada
-cheer my daughter in the Montreal regional spelling bee
-get ready for a family trip to Florida
-start getting rid of things I don’t need
I’m happy to declare that this list of retroactive resolutions has been achieved, and we’re not even at Valentine’s Day yet.
I should do this more often.
