Long Beach sunset

This charming, cartoony inukshuk was standing on a driftwood log out at Long Beach on Vancouver Island.

How little it takes to imply the notion of a person – and how much personality we infer from shape and stance. You can even tell this character is facing the sun, not the photographer.

I felt the little fellow was enjoying the sunset just as much as me.

In fact for a moment there, I wasn’t sure which of us was which.

Turns out, I’m the one who got the picture.

And he’s the one who stands gazing into that sunset every day.
