I can’t draw for beans… but I doodle pretty decently.
Over time I’ve come to value the process, and sometimes even the output. (I doodled my guitar.)
The phrase “Art is Fearless” came to me as Cleave Anderson, at David’s invitation, left his drum kit to give David a haircut right in the middle of a guitar solo. What a cool, wild, brilliant thing for them to do. Such an action oozes creativity.
I guess it got into me, and that life affirming energy came to reside in this image. Ideas want to happen, want to be brought to life. They have ideas of their own.
For example, that doodle wanted to be left incomplete in the bottom right corner. I knew it at the time, but I didn’t know why.
I showed David the doodle, and he asked for a copy.
Now he’s using it as a poster for his latest Cameron House gig, using that blank space to drop in his show details.
Art is fearless, indeed. And it’s got a life of its own. We should be that fearless, and that alive.
